ORGANIZATIONAL
We kicked off the year starting implementation of our new strategic framework which focuses on:
Deepening grantee support
Effectively stewarding organizational resources
Fostering organizational health & sustainability
In June, we received the Robin Hood Was Right Award from Bread & Roses Community Fund in honor of our “outstanding contribution to social change philanthropy in the Philadelphia region.”
In the summer, we onboarded six new board members.

SYSTEMS CHANGE GRANT PROGRAM
Systems Change grantees are fighting for gender justice through policy, advocacy, or community organizing.
Big wins in 2024:
After years of advocacy by the Education Law Center, The School District of Philadelphia established a new dress code that no longer punishes Black girls for their hairstyles.
As a result of a lawsuit brought by Women’s Law Project, the PA Supreme Court declared the state’s statutory Medicaid exclusion of abortion “presumptively unconstitutional.”

CULTURE CHANGE GRANT PROGRAM
Culture Change grantees provide comprehensive, inclusive, consent-based sex education to youth and adults working with youth in Philadelphia. In 2024, our grantees provided over 900 workshops for over 10,000 youth and 1,000 adults.
In addition to providing funding, we partnered with grantees to initiate convenings of local sex educators to facilitate partnerships, share skills, and build community.

FREEDOM FUND
The goal of the Freedom Fund is to support the under-funded ecosystem of programs serving women, trans, and gender non-conforming (TGNC) people in jail/prison or in reentry in the Philadelphia area. In addition to ongoing support for the Still We Rise Freedom Coalition, the Freedom Fund provides three-year general operating grants and capacity-building support to small organizations working in this space.

TRANS RESILIENCE FUND
The Trans Resilience Fund grantees provide direct support, programming, and advocacy for trans communities in the Philadelphia region. 64% of grants went to organizations with trans or gender nonconforming leaders. 73% of grant dollars were used for direct financial support (i.e. mini-grants) to TGNC individuals.
